Campaign of the Month: December 2016
Gamma World 2754
A 25th-century supervisory borg trapped in the ruins of a spaceport for almost 250 years.
Sentient Artificial Intelligence – Borg
Current Status: Transported from Albuquerque spaceport to central Utah, Jason-7 now serves as the communications officer at Keeg Relay Station. Several months of continuous and reliable power has restored his mental capacity to probably 75% of original (IN:15 of 20, MS:12 of 16).
Jason 7 was the management borg for the Albuquerque (aka ‘Albukerke’) Spaceport in the closing years of Ancient-era human civilization (2480-2501). Albuquerque was destroyed in the 3rd World War, but part of the spaceport 30km to the south survived. Over the next hundred years the spaceport was slowly covered with sand. There is evidence that toward the end of the Shadow Years some attempt was made to explore the spaceport by one or more unconnected parties, but for reasons unknown nothing much came of these expeditions and various parts of the spaceport ruins were left unexploited.
In the middle years of the 28th century, Jason-7 was discovered and lured from the spaceport by a local tribal hero who became the first in a series of shamans. Jason-7 assisted the dwindling tribe of savages as best he could. After a year, he was forced to deactivate himself in order to conserve remaining backup atomic cell power for life support functions. Over a decade later a group of explorers from a hi-tech base far to the north rediscovered the tribe. They reactivated Jason-7 and convinced the tribe who made him their totem to allow Jason-7 to be transported back to the nearby spaceport ruins. The rest is history.
Two meter flattened spheroid hull, two 1m humanoid arms, tri-ballwheel locomotion, and a large humanoid ‘head’ with Olympian features: large topaz-yellow eyes, aquiline nose, square jaw, broad cheekbones, and a high forehead of noble dimensions, but the frail voice of a doddering and indecisive old man. Jason-7 is capable of rotating his torso 90-degrees so that he can squeeze through smaller doors (as small as 1.2m wide).
Jason-7 possesses no armament but is well-armored (AC2) and possesses 120 structural points. He can move at high speed on his ball-wheel carriage if necessary (36m/AT). Intelligence and Mental Strength are 16 under optimal conditions, but Jason-7 has survived long past his intended lifespan and suffered serious mental deterioration as a result. Though Jason-7’s technical capabilities survive in some form, he exhibits many symptoms of a human afflicted by advanced senile dementia. Jason-7 can remotely control other Ancient-era bots and systems within shared broadcast power range (the immediate vicinity of the Albukerke Spaceport when running on backup micro-fusion generator power).
