The steam-punk hovercraft arrives from Vault 57 12 hours after the close of session 27. Captain Tan is aboard and informs the team that Grek is being recalled to help during the last critical days of the move from Vault 57 to the Ag-station valley. Grek’s replacement is Corporal ‘Squiggy’ an extremely mutated humanoid with a host of strange powers and almost singular focus on sniper skills. Squiggy spent most of his ‘formative years’ as the shooter in a 2-person sniper team hunting raider scouts and spies in the hills between Vault 57, Gunson and Sipio. Squiggy’s heard a lot about Cassey and is looking forward to some good kills! It’s well known that Cassey makes an excellent sniper team scout, what with her stealth, perception and rare mutations including ‘mental multiplier’ and ‘precognition’. On the way up from Vault 57, Squiggy appropriates a few items from the Keeg Vault. Grek also contributes his poor-condition laser carbine, a few energy cells and grenades.
Captain Tan delivers the ancient UWS Control Baton and Stage IV Military access card into the hands of Airy, now the ranking officer and team captain. The baton and access card are precious artifacts handed down from the original ‘Commanding General’ who led his ‘tribe’ to Vault 57 over 130 years ago. It is hoped these artifacts will help the ‘special ops’ team gain entry to the fabled ‘Eagles Nest’ high in the mountains somewhere northeast of the Salt Lake City ruins.
The two side-car motorcycles are fueled and equipped in the marshaling yard of Marduk’s Caravansary. Everything is ready to go. Within hours the team will embark on a risky mission to the ancient ancestral home. Does the legendary fortress still exist? If so, what lies within?
